confusing steering

hey guys, im very new here. im looking to build a kart over the summer. I have been focusing on the steering for a while and its still confusing me. my problem is that i dont get how do get the angleing and the "toe in" thing ive been hearing. one thing that is really making me think is how the pitman arms hole for the tie rods lines up to the spindel thing. if someone could maybe make a video going into deep explaination about the ENTIRE steering setup and how to do it all i would be so grateful.

on the steering shaft, theres pitman arms that push on tie rods that push on the spindle arm that turn the axle. heres a pic.

not too sure what youre looking for.

wait i think the gold things just answered my question! how do they work?

those are called tie rod ends ( aka heim joints ) ... on a small kart like above they look like they are 1/4 or 5/16

but i was thinking what if i wanted to not use those. what if i wanted to make my own how would i attach the tie rods. sorry if i seem very stupid but i dont know what half the words mean in diy go karting/mechanical talk. im very new
