Hello everyone. I am piecing my go kart together and I have decided to use a torque converter on 18" wheels with a 50t sprocket and see how it goes. The sprocket I have is 428 size and is already mounted on the axle and I can't find any other sprockets that will mount onto the hub I have so I want to keep it. The problem I'm having is I cannot find a TC with a 428 sprocket on it. Does anyone know of somewhere I could buy a 10t 428 sprocket that goes on the TC? or is there any other sprocket size I would be able to run with the 428 rear sprocket? I've had a look at the dimensions and a 41 sprocket has pretty similar dimensions to a 428 one so would it be that bad to use them together?

Thanks

since there is no such thing as a 428 sprocket for a TC..

you will have to swap the axle sprocket

428's are motorcycle parts (and the fact you run one on the axle tells me your kart came with a GY6 scooter engine)
you can have one cut if you want (linngear) but I'd say it's not worth the hassle.. since that ratio you run will fail anyways..

so just buy a #40 sprocket for your axle and you'll be set (make it closer to 70 teeth though!)

you could run a 420 chain on #41 sprockets and vice versa (which is a bad idea but still will work)

the bigger rollers of the 428 chain will lock on a #40/#41 sprocket though.. and a 41 sprocket chain will just eat and get eaten away by a 428 sprocket because of the different roller size.
