I've tried searching but really can't find much that I think would help me.

I had planned on getting the 1" axle with 3/4" step down. Now, which hubs would I get?

Those are $26 for both, but it says 3/4...is that for a 3/4" axle or for a step down?

Then, I found these wheels...which I'm guessing don't need a hub since they have a step down made into them... http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_34813_34813

But, since they are split wheels...would I need tubes?

Wow, I don't want to spend $180-200 on some 5" rims and tires..hah

This hub has bearings. (it would just spin freely after it was mounted on an axle) Its mostly just made to mount front wheels, or you could use just one of these, on just 1 side of a rear axle, to make your kart have only 1 wheel drive if desired.

Looks like those rims would mount directly onto Northern Tools 1" to 3/4" step-down axle without needing any hubs. This would give your kart a live axle. (= both rear tires drive kart) Most guys prefer live axle karts to only 1 wheel driving.

The info about that wheel doesn't say anything about requiring a tube... but I'd suggest you call or email Northern Tool, tell them exactly what your trying to buy, to make absolutely sure you get all the right stuff that will fit and work together on your kart.

I've seen quite a few fairly nice complete (used) go karts selling anywhere from $50 to $200 lately on my local craigslist. It might end up saving you lots of money to just buy another kart to get the axle/hub/wheel/tire parts you need for yours. (you might even end up finding a much beter kart than yours for less money than you'll spend on all these new parts...)

Have rear hubs concerns

Built a low profile cooler racer kart with wide 12"wide slicks tires in rear. After setting up live 1" axle with the 2 lightweight 3 stud alum. hubs , I found that both fixed hubs would not work, too much drag and kart would not turn well . My question is I want to have 1 hub free spining held by split collers but i,m concerned about the alum. hub wearing on the shaft . Will that be o.k. since they dont make a hub with a 1" bearing inside. Thanks.
