Added a cone filter to my 5.0hp Tecumsen engine. What a huge difference!! No more spit and sputtering at high speeds. Highly recommend putting one on.:auto:

Build a spacer to put in between the Carb and intake, check out mine. Really helped out mine, I also pulled the packing out of the muffler.

stay outta sand with the K&N filters

Hey all,
Yeah mate; they are as almost as useless as tits on a bull.... but you can buy a foam sock for them which you can oil and put over the top. This helps them out. (LIghtning Karts in Adelaide, (any Kart shop really) although buy the UNI Filter ones, they are $30 cheaper?)
Further to this we put a layer of womens panty hose or leg stockings over that as well, works really well, (just make sure they are not fish net stockings :roflol:) Just give them a tap and most of the sand falls off before it gets into your filters. They are also dirt cheap to buy and you get great odd curious looks:drool5: from the check out chicks at the supermarket!

Saves heaps of time (as they are a pig to clean well) and cleaning solvents, $ too!
Cheers
:cheers2:

Thats the trade off, with most high flow filters the porosity is greater. Stock filters are made to be most economic, in terms of, price, longevity of the engine and the engine performance.

K&N's are the best think ever, I put a cone filter on my 3hp briggs and it really hauls ***. I am planning to put a K&N intake on all my toys now.

just be weary we are not joking about the sand and dust thing

the cone air filters are everywhere

go to a place that sell cheap car parts or general cheap performance parts

i got mine from a bike shop for $10 each

Go to OMB warehouse, they have $10 K&N styled ones. I got legit K&N ones though, gonna get a $10 one for my clone though. I am not in the sand, but I might buy one of those sock things just in case.

What's a plug chop. I took the kart to a new subdivision with all paved roads and no houses and the thing was spit and sputtering all day.

I don't know about clones, but on my 6hp briggs and stratton there is s bracket that attaches on to the carburetter and the filter goes inside. There are hoses in that bracket that go into the ohv cover. I have really wanted to put a better air filter on it. What would I do with those hoses. Are they needed? Is there a website that sells them for b&s engines?
