then i laid them inside the desk and realized a minor issue. With these installed i will have gaps in the front for airflow! this needs to be sealed. so not sure what im going to do. make small box inserts inside the desk to block the drawers? they stick out further then i had hoped. may need to cut the drawers down from 3/4" to 1/2" thick sides? might be just enough room. and maybe pick up some 1/2" ply to encase these.....ugh...

The problem is not the front. its the top through the looking glass :)

I mocked up a quick cad design im trying out. Maybe you can see what im talking about from the cad animation.

The drawer this way is still almost too wide. looking through the glass you can almost see into the drawer. which is fine. But that also means air from the drawer cavity will get into the case. Messing with my pressure in there. It needs a good amount of positive pressure or it can suck in dust through any crack in the desk. i.e. the drawers are huge holes.

With this design idea i can seal the sides right at the edge of the glass top. So it might look okay this way. Otherwise with normal side mounted slides the drawer would stick out like 1 1/2 inches under the glass. drawer is 6" and the inner edge to the glass edge is 6" so i have no wiggle room.

Anyways i gave it two days of thinking. And i just gave up waiting for a better idea and moved on. I think my idea will be fine in the end.

i dont want unknown air flow into the case where dust can get past air filters on the fans. The drawers need to be sealed or it will suck in air through that opening.

Adding fans to the front of the case for intake. These will have filters on them

Adding side panels on the inside around the drawers. This should make it air tight in that area. keep dust out.

The side panels got wood glue and for added strength i did a thick coat of epoxy. Only thing i could think of.

Now with all those fans will it hover or fly? Or is it just going to scoot across the room on its own? Like it’s possessed!
