hi guys i just had a bad experience with my compressor, it is a 30 gallon husky compressor with an inline 2 pump and i think 2-2 1/2 hp motor and i was using my impact and i just herd a loud clank! and my compressor started to sound funny so i shut it off and i looked at the pump and it was missing one entire side of the crank case! and i saw the piston still in the bore and the rod was in pieces in the crankcase and around my garage, so i took off the compressor disassembled it and took out the pieces and with a lot of effort removed the seized piston and reassembled it and since there is a big gaping hole on the side of my compressor i can't really fill it with oil anymore so to lube i have to shut it off if its running and spray some oil on the bearings and on the bore. it still works now but it pumps really slow and I'm stuck with this until i get enough money to replace the pump or get new parts ore something. il try to post some pics 2more

Yesterday, I saw an engine (500cc 18hp) where the crankcase was completely broken. It appears that the engine just got crazy, the rpm kept increasing until the connecting rod broke and flew through the crankcase. It can be very dangerous!

Sad about your compressor. Can you try to weld it back?

How old was this compressor? I would write Husky and inform them of the compressor's failure. Unless you abused it, that's just bad metallurgy.

Post pics

There are loads of very creative people here

I'm sure someone can come up with a good getto redneck fix

And if not then we still get to see some destruction

I mean it's only an air compressor it isnt under huge forces and it doesn't spin that fast

Nice carnage.... Now that you're out a compressor. Have you given any thought to buying a used one at half the cost? Ton of smaller speedair and craftsman out there. Made in the U.S.A. too. I know you're from Toronto so, I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'd start checking Estate sales and Craigslist.

o and i plan on using plexiglass or something similar to cover up the missing side so when it has oil i can always see the level

if you can get that side of the crank case TIG welded, put a new rod and piston in it, and be more careful on oil changes now on

you could buy just the compressor part, right? northern tool sells a bunch as well as ebay probably

you might want to wait a week before you go replacing your pump. you might be able to get a scorching Canada Day deal on a new one. i know i picked up my compressor for $500 after taxes on Canada day a few years back. 11.2cfm@90psi with a 60 gallon tank. i don't think i have really seen anything similar for less than $700 before taxes.
