Compression release on modified GX200

So i have a gx200 clone which is extremely hard to start with pull starter cable. When i go to pull over once compression builds the cable will violently get ripped out of hands. I normally can manage to get it started after a few tries and it runs fine. When i remove the spark plug the engine moves freely. ive watched the rockers while pulling over and i can see that the compression release is functioning.
When i rebuilt the engine i made sure the timing marks were lined up and i set the valve lash to .008" on the exhaust and .006" on the intake
Ive looked around for information but cant find much relating to a modified engine cause i was wondering if maybe the compression release being for a stock engine is just not releasing enough pressure maybe.

The current mods are are:
-govener and oil sensor removal
-gx160 head
-billet flywheel with 32° advanced timing
-billet rod
-22lb valve springs
-methanol conversion
-intake and exhaust

Methanol burns faster that gasoline , so it requires less timing advance.

the 32° is good for gasoline, but may be too much for methanol.
I would try installing a 4° advance key backwards to retard the timing a bit.

Your valve lash seems pretty loose. You don't mention anything about a different cam. I think at .008 " on the exhaust you are giving up .005" of action
on the compression release. Could be enough to make a difference. FWIW I own four karts and one mini bike. One engine is still stock, the other four are all modified including after market performance cams. I set intake and exhaust on
all of them at .003" . No starting issues and they all run fine.
