I have a purely hypothetical question here...
If I were to hook up a small compressed oxygen tank to the air intake of a go kart motor and implement some kind of trigger that would release some of the oxygen into the motor, would I get any type of "boost" effect, or would nothing happen?

Thats how Nos works so yes you would get a boost effect however without the nitrogen (the other component of Nos) you will be too much heat among other problems and you will most likely wreck the engine.

If the oxygen was released for only short periods of time, do you think that would be a problem? Also, would releasing compressed air instead of pure oxygen help with the over heating? Thanks for answering, by the way.

so basically you want to turbo it without a turbo, it would work but you need to get the amount of compressed air just right or you will wreck it.

No, Hes thinking that adding pure oxygen will make it burn hotter, Not about forcing air into it.

would a paintball airtank work (it is just highly compresses ,4500psi, air and if it would work what about a scuba tank) i suggested this because it does have some nitrogen in it because it is just normal air.

Plus the cost of a compressed air tank for a pb gun (you can get either 3500 or 4500 psi) is over 40 for a small one. And all that would go to waist once the piston leaves the engine or the connecting rod decides to let go.
