Completley new to Go Karts. May need help!

I am completley new to this kinda thing. Ive always wanted a go kart though. I am 16 years old. I am in grade 11. I have no experience with this sorta thing. But i really want to learn. I was interested in designing my own kart or making one from previous designs. This is one design im interested in.

I have a Tecumseh 8hp snowblower engine i will be using. It runs beautifully. Just wondering what you guys think.

I need help with it so please post back!

Can you weld, or do you know someone to do all the welding?

Yes. I know someone who can weld. Im gonna be confused on the steering. Thats all thats stumbling me at the moment!

There are those on this forum who will help you with the math involved (see, you really do need math!). Most of the spindles and such are purchased and welded into place. It won't be hard at all.

Cool! I am 15, been into karts for the last few years.
The 8hp motor is a great place to start.
Just a few questions, that may help those who are answering your questions:
1. What is your planned budget?
2. What tools have you got available to you?
3. What terrain do you plan to ride on?
4. What top speed are you aiming for?

As for the design, do you plan to have a "flat" style frame (i.e. like this:

Or a "3D" frame like this?

I plan to have it flat. Like the recluse above in my post, Long enough my legs arent uncomfertable. Im 5'11" and i want it to be lowish and to be lightweight so i can get as much speed out of my motor as possible.

I took appart my snowblower today to see a whole new thing. Never done it before. I took the engine out of the whole snowblower. I dont understand were to go from that tho. All new to me!

That's a good place to start. Taking things apart helps you understand how they work (but don't go nuts). Also, checkout some project logs, they have lots of photos that may help you.
