Complete and Utter Dissapointment

So today I fixed up my go kart and was finally ready to take it for its first proper drive. I get to the end of my driveway and a cop pulls up and tells me that I cant use it around here because it will disrupt the neighbourhood! And even worse, the cop that pulled up and told me off, was my fing cousin. I now completely and utterly hate my cousin. Has this ever happened to you? Ill have to make a muffler for it so i dont "Disrupt the neighbourhood" How do i make one as quiet as possible????

i have 2 neighbors near me that constantly call the cops, they know that me and my neighbor are being safe, and are respectful to the rules of the road, so they dont even bother to come by anymore, they actually wave and smile to us when we do see them

yeah most one has ever said to me.(while i was running the roads at about 45mph in a 25mph zone) is to put a helmet on. but i would direct it down and what engine is it?

Its a five horse clone.... And he's going to be driving around untill he sees me in the park with it and then he'll shoot me a fine... Im so utterly dissapointed..... The cars i have wont fit the karrt in it so i cant take it anywhere

why not see if its okay with the sheriff not him. if he says its fine it dosent matter what your cuz says.

Yeah but unfortunately my cousin is pretty high up in the ranks, If someones calls the police about someone driving a go kart in the park, and he comes to check it out, and I've bailed, He knows exactly where I live and he will question me. >:|

okay but the issue is even if you make it quite he would still catch for riding. so how do you know making it quite solves the problem? where can you ride it legally?

No muffler? I think it would be disturbing the neighborhood if you don't have a muffler.

you can hear me and my neighbor 3 blocks away when we open the throttle, never really had a complaint

my neighbor is a cop and i ride my baja around with a straight pipe. but that doesnt matter, its my yard.

Yeah well I ride it in the park and what he's worried about is getting complaints from people. So to stop getting complaints I should make it quieter

I really feel that Ive spent enough on the kart already... Ill just have to risk getting a fine. My friends have driven a small quad in the park plenty of times without getting complaints. Ive also driven a kart in the park with nothing but people congratulating me. SO i dunno

i amm going to get one of these petrol pushbikes to save moneyso i went to the police station to check it out and they say only traffic cops can decide those sorts of things

go to your cop shop and throw the question out there

my mates have been pulled over doing 80km in there 900cc buggy around the neibourhood
the cop was just intrested in it and told them to go a little slower
u think a 5hp is noisy

The engine isnt even that loud! Its sounds very similar to a mower, maybe slightly louder. Its pretty disappointing but I think its worth the risk of someone complaining because I doubt they will unless i do it too often and i really tear up the park. If I do it responsibly and with respect to the neighbourhood, it shouldn't be a problem, don't you think?

just go and ask

What I learned when it comes to driving my kart in my neighborhood is to be a total (goody). What I mean is if there is a stop sign really emphasis the fact the your looking both ways. And try to look like your a really responsible driver (not that you aren't). I say this because most of the time when a cop shows up in a neighborhood its because someone complained, you want your neighbors to gain trust in you so that they won't call the cops. If they see you're obeying the rules they have no reason to complain.
