Hey everybody, was wondering if you all could double check my alignment of my drive and driven torque converters. I've been running it like this for about two days and haven't had belt fray yet but wanna make sure its even between the two and not mid aligned. Thanks

from the pictures I'd say you're off a bit.

Flat faces of driver and driven should align.
adjust the spacer on the crankshaft (needs to be bigger)

I didn't know what was supposed to be aligned so I just guessed that the belt was to be straight but apparently I'm wrong so I'll buy a wider spacer on shaft.

I agree with 'sid in that the alignment is not correct. You have a comet 30 series, but not TAV or TAV2. On the Asymetric 30 series, the 5degree taper sheave (inboard to motor side) is fixed on both drive and driven units. Therefore, you need to align those two sheaves. When it is in proper alignment, you will find the belt to rest on both sheaves with an equal amount of daylight showing thru on the driver sheave to the belt, top and bottom. Just remember that the 5degree sheave is not moving in or out and the belt is walking up or down the face of it, so that both of these fixed sheaves must be in the same working/moving plane.

The Comet 20, 40/44, 500 and other series are symmetric, which handles more torque, power and load, but do not offer the unique advantage of having the drive and driven unit in fixed alignment on the motor side whereby they can be packaged up on the back plate that the TAV system offer.
