hmm.. 44 you say..
with a 6:1 chain ratio you should end up with a high gear of 7.4:1 and a low of 17:1 IIRC..

So, that should be good enough for let's say 200kg at least (kart & driver)

with 3600 rpm, that'd be ~34 mph and enough take off torque (~250 ft lb)
to go off road ;)

So I'd say that gear ratio should be fine.

Thanks I'm gonna try it out and see how it feels but I can always get new sprockets if needed. On the 44 driven does the spring side face toward engine or away from engine? I'm thinking away from engine is correct.

Yeah but can't complain to much I got the engine for free from a buddy. He didn't think I could get it running.

Hey guys i new some help with driven pulley. 44series comet. From all the pictures I've seen on websites and paperwork that came with it the driven is installed with spring side toward engine and flat side out. Does anyone for certain know if that is correct or Is it reversible.

Ok I called a supplier and did more research and it is reversible but you have to swap out red spring with the reverse wound yellow spring. I have one now just need to figure out correct way to separate pulley
