I just noticed (or it finally clicked because I noticed before) that my drive clutch is missing a spring. How does it affect the performance and/or will it? I am ordering a spring right now but I am just curious.

Also would a mega thread for just simple questions be good/work instead of making a new thread for every simple question?

A single thread would be cleaner, but individual threads (classified in the correct sections) will probably gather more attention from the "right" folks. It really is your choice. Perhaps start a thread in either Projects or Go Kart discussion.

Oh yeah- your question- a missing spring will adversely affect performance. It will cause the driver to engage/shift far too soon.

Found a replacements, now which one to order? This single one has a bit of orange paint on it BUT I don't know what the stock color is/was and I don't know if these weights are aluminum or zinc

Triple post!!!! I figured out it was Zinc and now I need to figure out what engagement rpm to go after. Engine is a 6.5 predator with straight pipe exhaust.

How much does engagement rpm affect top end? I went with the 2200 springs but down the road if I mod for more rpms on my predators would I benefit top end by increasing engagement rpm?

You are meant to set the engagement up with engagement rpm just lower than the powerband rpm so that when the clutch is fully engaged the engine is just in it's powerband. It doesn't matter a huge amount with stock motors but with race motors designed for, say a 4000-6000rpm powerband then 2200rpm engagement would be useless because the engine has to fight to get into the powerband.

Has no effect on top end, providing the engine can rev up there. Should be no issue!
However, bottom end can be affected.

Alright thanks. Hopefully with a new engine, proper springs, a new belt, and new tires this kart goes like hell.

My wife is letting me get a welder soon so I can learn to weld and then, when I feel comfortable with it, convert the "two seater" to a one seater because there is barely enough room for me and my 2.5y/o daughter on there. I also much prefer a central driving position.

Since my karts will have the same engines with the same mods except the cvt series and similar weights it could be interesting racing them. Now this track just needs to get done!!!
