I recently grabbed this kart and have been working on it non stop since lol....When I picked it up it jerked like crazy on acceleration....after attempting cleaning the beat up driver clutch I opted to just order a new aftermarket one from GoPowerSports.com....also bought a new belt....replaced both and noticed a significant improvement...decided I would also replace the driven unit springs and buttons as well after watching a couple videos on you tube....since i've replaced the kart seems to drag excessively when you take your foot off the gas....almost like your getting pulled back....I have attempted alignment of the jack shaft several times, just cant seem to get it to stop...put the original belt back on which helped a bit but feel like something is just not right. Now the driven clutch bolt has loosened itself twice.....this last time the whole magnet assembly moved too and pushed up against the plate....The belt does not seem too tight or gets chewed up at all...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

Mine engages at a lower RPM than it should so I'm working though similar problems with mine and looking to shim more.

From the top down image it looks like the drive is too far out from the engine. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong but both inside sheaves, belt edge, should line up. Remove the belt and open up the driven and drop a metal straight edge in there. Let the driven clamp it in at the bottom but not on the bolt heads. Rotate the driven and straight edge into the drive noting how it either hits or has a space to the drive inside flat sheave. Before Shimming as needed check parallelism. You may need to loosen the motor while keeping the jack shaft plate fixed and slightly rotate the motor to get the parallelism straight. After making such an adjustment measure clutch center to center distance and make sure that falls into the range for you belt. Good luck.
