I seem to have seen a post on this topic, but can't find it. I'm thinking of mating a comet 40 series drive to a Polaris Magnum 425 transmission. I haven't yet bought the driven (they're available on e-bay). It seems that the Polaris ATV driven is pretty standard across models. Does anyone know if these are compatible to run with the comet belt (I believe it's 7/8 inch)?

most of the polaris and similar sized auto atvs run a wider belt. i would also get the drive pulley from the 425. the bigger your pulleys, the more 'gears' you get. the belts size? if i had to guess which i do, i would say 1.250 or 1 and 1/4" i have thought about this, but as i no longer have a welder to fasten new bracketry, i can't. i would love reverse on my ody and carter 2906

I have a polaris 350 trans and the clutch on it uses a 1 1/8 belt.

Okay. I don't have a problem getting the 425 drive, but do you know if it would fit on the engine with a standard one-inch keyed shaft???

the drive pulley has a 10to1 taper and the driven is splined.
