Comet Drive Belt Alternative?

After hearing the news about Comet today (I was late) I frantically looked for a v-belt to use on my 40 series I bought with my summer savings and found this

Just curious if anyone knows if this would work

Industrial v belt =/= Comet Drive belt. They are custom made for the specific application. I'm pretty sure you can still find plenty of Comet belts.

If its the right length try it. I read somewhere that a guy was using belts from a truck repair outlet on his comet.

As long as they more or less meet Comet's specs for your model CVT, you oughta be okay. For the 40, it needs a 7/8" top section, 28* sides, and your correct length. Note that these specs are off the top of my head, and I may be mistaken. Verify before ordering anything. BTW- after I fried MY 40 belt, I was looking for cheaper alternatives but came out dry...

I suspect these belts to be more appropriate, but more dimensional data is needed

If really necessary, go to a place that specializes in belts, chain, sprockets, pulleys and such. They will be able to measure every aspect of your belt to find something that fits. If you buy online chances are you'll end up with the wrong side pitch, or the wrong length.
