I put a predator 212cc on a yerfdog 3203. The driver sheeve isn't lining up with the driven sheave as well as I would like. In order to correct the problem, I need to move the motor mounting slots. BUT, the sheaves are only off by about 1/8th of an inch.

Is this a problem worth fixing? Is 1/8th inch misaligned between the driver and driven a problem worth fixing? Or is 1/8th insignificant?

If its only 1/8" then add a shim/washer behind whichever it is that needs to move 'out' driver/driven (away from the engine). Yes, an 1/8" is 1/8" that'll rub on the edges of the sheaves causing slightly accelerated wear to the belt. It's not much, but it still should be aligned.

That's what I was going to do, but the drive shaft on these predator engines is already pretty short. I only have about a half inch on the end of the shaft for the splined hub to sit on. If I use a washer behind the driver, I'll only have about 3/8" to play with.

So I guess the question is: Which is the lesser evil? Out of alignment by an 1/8th inch or less shaft for the driver?

the length of the shaft doesn't really make a difference. People just use a longer bolt to keep it all on

Thx... I was trying to figure a way to say that... but it always ended up a paragraph and in the end even confused myself, when I read it back... so... :backtotopic:

Ive had as lil as 1/4" of shaft to put the clamshell/'splined hub' onto... and never had any issues afterwards (but I use lock-tite red on the threads).
