I am restoring a Bird Baja, had to by a new motor which changed the mount on the kart. The torque converter is throwing the spring on the driven. I have ordered a new spring because the other is >15 years old. Should I be worried that the spring is throwing because of the alignment? Also the frame side sheave of the driven has some play in it, could this be the problem?

Thanks.

You are going to have to post some pics for us to help you out properly.

Are you saying that your alignment is off?

Everything on my TAV is worn to crap. Ill try to take some pics for ya tomorrow. The little cam on the secondary moves around quite a bit. The oval is becoming more of a circle, which disrupts proper shifting.

Kart photos

I think I have the clutch working. Here are some pics of the kart. I have band brakes on it now and want to know what my options for upgrading them? Also how could I upgrade the suspension?

You have duel band brakes because of the diff that you have on your axle. You need to brake both sides of the axle if you have a diff. To upgrade, you are going to have to either have mechanical/hydraulic brakes in the places you have your bands, or you can bolt a caliper to the diff and have one hydraulic brake. If you are stopping the diff itself, you just have to have one brake

I want to keep the diff; I like the option of left and right brake. What are my options of mechanical braking?
