Hello all, our kids have a KT 196 that we purchased new back in March. It started making a “clanging” noise and now it won’t move. The primary clutch on the engine is spinning but when I press the gas, the engine just bogs down and the torque converter won’t spin. Any suggestions?

Looks like something has got the axle locked down.
Is the parking brake on????

Get the rear tires off the ground, and see what's holding it.

Get the belt back on top of the big pulley.

Don't keep reving it, up with it not working right, you will burn the belt.

There’s no parking brake. I removed the brake caliper to rule-out a brake issue

Aside from something being locked up,.your driven clutch ( the larger one that's
not on the engine ) is stuck open. When it's not spinning it should be completely closed. Take it off and disassemble it. The spring might be broken, or it might have come loose. You will need a pretty good pair of snap ring pliers
to take it apart and to put it back together. The points on the cam ( the outer most piece of the clutch ) should be slammed tight against the plastic stops.

The primary clutch may be spinning but are the sheaves moving in & out? If not, pull the primary clutch off and disassemble it to make sure the spring inside didn't break or there's something amiss there.

Is there a spring inside the driven pulley?

It’s dark, but I can’t see a spring in there.

It doesn’t roll so there must be a problem somewhere after the driven pulley as well because “as is” I don’t think the engine is connected to the axle.

But the Torquey Verter has issues too. I was going to say the belt was too big or installed incorrectly, but now I see the stuck open driven pulley.
