HI ALL, LOOKING TO DO SOME UPGRADES ON MY BOYS KT-196, SOME HAVE NOT GONE HOW I WOULD LIKE OTHERS HAVE WORKED OUT WELL...
THE STOCK " SHOCKS" ON THE COLEMAN ARE GARBAGE FOR SURE AND JUST BOUNCE MY BOYS ALL OVER THE PLACE, I REMOVED THE REAR RACK AND BUILT A SET OF MOUNTS FOR SHOCKS... INTIALLY HAD THE SPRINGS AND SHOCKS TOGETHER AND WAS TOO STIFF, REMOVED THE SPRINGS AND STILL TOO STIFF FOR MY BOYS WEIGHT, BUT IF I GET IN IT.... NOT EASILY MIND YOU. THE SHOCKS JUST COMPRESS AND BOTTOM OUT. MY NEWEST THOUGHT IS TO FIND SOME SORT OF COILOVER SET UP FOR IT BUT IM NOT FINDING WHAT IM LOOKING FOR HONESTLY... AND INSITE ON WHAT RATE SPRINGS TO LOOK FOR AND OR A SOURCE FOR SAID COILOVERS? OR AM I THINKING ABOUT THIS ALL WRONG... THE MOUNTS I MADE ARE 20" PIN TO PIN, WHICH SEEMS LIKE MIGHT BE AN ISSUE OR POSSIBLY THE ISSUE WITH SOURCING THESE PARTS. THE SHOCKS I USED ARE AN OVER KILL AS WELL THOUGHT ABOUT USING FRONT SHOCK FROM AN ATV, ID HAVE TO RE-WORK MY MOUNTS... THOUGHTS...

Why are you shouting?
Some one here will know. I just heard the shouting....:ROFLMAO:

Don't take me seriously.....

But the forum police do frown on multiple posts. Standby, one of our expert counselors will help as soon as they are available.
All our representatives are busy helping other patients, or just plain screwing off.

I say rework the mounts and go with a 10"-12" range Touring motorcycle type shock pair. I suggest touring specifically because they are heavy bikes with fairly soft rear suspension. Dirtbike shocks will not be good because they tend to be quite stiff.

I'm reading what you're saying, which in a nutshell is somewhat stiff damper with a low preferably adjustable rebound rate spring.

(rebound is what launches things uncontrollably into the air after a Bo Duke launch)
