Picked up a ct200u ex. Starts first pull and runs exactly as expected...19mph. After parking it almost 1/2 of the oil leaks out. It is not leaking from the oil full or the drain. Also not leaking from sidecover or side cover bearing/seal. Nor is it leaking from head or breather. Does this indicate either the oil seal behind the crank is bad? If not this then it must be a crack in the block. With the 5/8 crank nose I am not sure it’s even worth it to mess with this engine. Thoughts? The bike is 9 months old.

I did clean the engine. I’ll start it on the bench and see. It is the 196cc. I have a replacement predator for the bike but the engine has use on another project if I can get it sorted out.

Was it upright on its kickstand when it marked its territory?

Very puzzling indeed. I'd track down that leak for certain.

I’ll track it down as it bothers me for sure. Yes it was upright haha. When I got the bike there was oil dirt everywhere. Rode it and it leaked like crazy. Changed the oil, rose it again, and same thing. I’ll see if I can pop the flywheel off tonight with a mallet. I need to buy a flywheel puller to have around eventually.

Well I tracked down the leak. I removed the flywheel to find the rear oil seal dislodged completely and the little tension spring still inside separated from the seal. Guess this was a bad seal from the factory. No visible damage or marring to the seal. Other than that everything looks fine. The engine runs fine.

Not sure where to go from here. While I’d love to have the charging system I am not keen on the outrageous price tag for the GOS ya converter kit, especially since it’s chinese parts at triple the normal market rate. Has anyone found a setup that work on the Coleman engine outside of GPS? I buy from those guys all the time but for this it doesn’t make financial sense.

Thanks!
