My Coleman 100cc trail mini bike arrived today. The mini bike is actually for my grandson who I will try to teach how to ride some time this summer (first time mini bike). I have not taken it out of the box yet. But plan on putting it together soon. I'll let you now how things went together. I hope I don't were it out before his first ride. I've been looking at that predator 212 sitting on my work bench and I guess you now what I'm thinking. You know I could because he doesn't know anything about the minibike yet. Should I or would that just be so wrong?

The bike is almost done. Had to go to hardware store for missing fork stem bolt lock nut , had to settle for lock washer and nut. Also missing axle washer had my own. Had to loosen motor mount bolts to tighten chain. Have to adjust back brake caliper. Still working on it.

Ride the grandson's mini bike and then hand it over to him used, worn-out and tattered? Bad form.

Get your own or hands off. :p

Better yet, ride this one first, get it set up all well and good--teach the grandson to ride with it then BAM, surprise him with his very own brand new bike complete with a giant bow. You will be well-versed in all the intricacies of this particular bike when the time comes to give him his own.

Before I could finish putting the Coleman 100cc together I also had to put a little piece of metal where the foot pegs fold down. One on each side because the pegs when in the down position went below level (horizontal) which made your feet slip off the pegs.

When tightening the chain I found that 100cc motor was to narrow to fit the plate. So Coleman added a bracket on each side of the bottom of the motor to make up the difference. I did find the lock nut wrapped up in the bubble wrap.

I also noticed that the front of the motor mount plate was welded on the bottom side of the crossbar and the back side was welded on the top side. There must be a reason for this something I don't know about. Or could this be a major foul up?

Coleman Chinese made mini bikes can be fun, but there's a reason why they are cheap entertainment. The weld quality is very poor. Many require re-welding after prolonged use, inspect regularly if the grand kids are riding it. (No offense, Coleman and DB fans)

The predator will have a difficult time sitting stock on the 100u. It's too tall with the gas tank.

Old thread, I know, but since someone else already bumped it...

It's like that because one cross member sits higher than the other. Doing that keeps the engine level. As long as the welds aren't crap it'll be fine.
