Ok guys, thinking about a new project.
Here's the plan and the goal in mind.
I have a Streaker with live axle (heavy kart) ready to be built. it had a 212 and a TAV and it was good, not great, but I want more. Its bare frame now.

My goal here is to be able to spin the rear tires at will, donuts, burnouts etc. I am not looking for top speed just tire shredding sideways fun. I do not want to "build" up a 212 with $500 worth of race parts.

So two thoughts come to mind.
Twin 212cc with jets and intakes or (1) 420cc with jet and intake.

Clutch or TAV which is better low end grunt?

lets think cost in this idea also, the powerland 420cc is $165 vs 2 pred's 212's at 99$ each, two clutches would be about $75 and two TAVs about $150 chains and sprockets for twin engines another $100. and $50 for miscellaneous cables and such.

Keep in mind the weight of two engines, mounts, sprockets and such the 420 might be lighter and cheaper but would it be better for my goal?

Thanks
MrC.

Tav will have more grunt because a clutch is one speed. Go the 420 just have to get a different tav, a 40 series and a different engine mount.

The Powerland has been awol for some time. Maybe a bunch of Predator 420's will fall off a truck soon.

If all you want is low speed fun. You might think about a CC and jackshaft. Say 2 or 3:1 on the clutch side and 5 or 6:1 on the drive side. That would be wild with even a stock 420.

Two 212's with two 30 series TAV's.

Rather B Welding has some videos on the tube with a dual 212 dual TC kart.

Syncing the carbs or creating an intake manifold for use with a single carb is an issue to consider.

That's the draw back to dual engines. While you get roughly the same power for the same weight, you run into issues with synchronizing everything.

Well I see the camps are split.

Just when I thought I had decided which way to go. (420)

Here's a another thought that might not be so obvious.

Two 212's with TAVS ran to a single jackshaft with a single sprocket ran to a single axle sprocket, that would give an easy way to gear change in the future and also save some weight. I think this might help if one of the two engines is weaker than the other.
With this design you could run a center drive sprocket for clearance issues and any variable in the TAV's speed would be equaled out. They would self adjust to match, since the load on them would be equaled.

Since we are just brain storming here, is there away to link the two cranks together with some type of coupler ( after removing the pull rope mechanism ) then could a TAV handle the power of two 212's? Since they have the pressure release valve, I think one pull rope could start two engines.

Just a thought.
