RE: blue honda clone finally mounted

Hi...I am almost ready to start and try out gocart...but can not figure out how to tighten the bolt/lockwasher/flat washer that fits in the end of the crankshaft and holds the clutch in place.

How do I stop the crankshaft from spinning when I try to tighten?

A method lots of guys here use is to remove your spark plug and feed a length of clean rope/cord right down into the cylinder, then as you tighten the clutch bolt and turn the engine over the rope will stop It allowing you to fully tighten your clutch bolt. (Its only a little 5/16" bolt so dont torque it too tight, just get it snug...)

wow...don't know much about engines but dropping anything into cylinder doesnt sound good...???

maybe thankfully got post too late...I already stuck a screw driver in/through clutch to engine and that worked...but maybe damaged the clutch as it is spining the tire all the time...

still need to adjust engine though as it is reving extremely too high and not idleing...will look through posts for tips.

hopefully better luck this coming weekend.

i pull the pull rope out a bit and tie it off on the frame, or just hold tension while i turn the ratchet.
