clutch Question

I have recently bought a go cart but the motor I bought engages the centrifugal clutch at idle(even if I adjust the idle and idle air screws). I'm looking to buy a new motor but I want to be sure it will idle low enough. Can any one tell me what rpm the clutch engages at.

Were going to need a few more details about the motor and what the clutch is, aswell as what the kart is....

The clutch is an old "max torque" and the motor that I bought is a Honda GC 160 (the one that idles too fast)

maybe the clutch's springs are just worn out and it engages a bit early...
(show some pics maybe)

just buy a new clutch first (~25 for a maxtorque)
see if that fixes your probllem already.. if not.. you have a spare clutch on your shelf..
if it does, you saved a hundred for not buying a new engine

I think most clutches are set up for 2200 rpm engagement out of the box.

Have you ridden it for a bit? Oiling the bushing will prevent from unintended acceleration. That is if your idle mix is tuned right.

How old is the clutch. The springs might be worn, allowing it to engage too early. I would buy a new clutch to test before you go buy a whole new engine.

How low is the engine idle set at? Just above stalling out?
