I am using a Max Torque 'SS' centrifugal clutch( I think) on a Preditor 212. The cart is a Murray Hard Drive. This is all chain drive. Question is the clutch unit is in decent shape, noticed some definite grooving on the inside of the clutch( where the clutched make contact with the outer housing to make it go) is this normal or should I be looking at replacing it. At this time I have kept this cart all original with the exception of the engine. Noticed that it really doesn't have any climbing power, clutch just slips, or could that be something else.

pics of the clutch and the inside of the clutch would be good. if your clutch drum also known as a bell the inside of your clutch. if it has a shine like a mirror finish you probably want to replace it.

Just for info, the gear ratio is 9.36:1 ( 10T engine,26T J=shaft,10T J-shaft, 36T axle, 16" tires. This is all stock. no modifications....YET!:)
The drum portion is not shiny, just has 2 destinct wear areas with a high center area between. I took some sand paper to it last night trying to clean it up some, 'not sure if that was a good idea or not'.
Oh, with that ratio, should it be able to climb a mild bank?

a centrifugal clutch is usually used on a flat grand and thay dont produce as much torque as a torque converter.

YES!! Just the answer I was looking for!!!! I will see how it does tonight, then start shopping for a TC kit. Any recommendations. I figure a 30 series will work well. Using a TC will I have to change my axle gear?

if your kart is a 2002 Murray Hard Drive Go Kart this yes i would recommend a TC for that kart.

Not sure of the model year but 'yes' it is a Murray Hard Drive Cart. I drove it today (lunch break) it really needs shocks. Any idea where I can find some, these are only about 5-6" in length and are adjustable. I'll post a pic tonight.

You'll find Comet TCs here, either of the first two (depending on current chain pitch) will do it. If you want something a little less expensive, the GTC version is marginally cheaper (although I've seen them cheaper still but, I don't remember where...)

You should be ok with the current axle sprocket but, triple check the pitch before ordering a TC

Close, pocket bike swing arm shocks...

They may look the same at first glance but, have a closer look; the shock end is about half the diameter of yours, they're not even close to suitable...

The first thing to look at is length, unladen. ATM, they have the full weight of the kart on them which means they could measure even longer...

The most inportant thing to determine is the spring load rating, which can't be done visually unless they're marked as such...

For obvious reasons, I can't offer any suggestions as to what to get...
