I recently obtained a maxtorque centrifigul clutch
I want to attach it to my engine (Honda GX160)
only the shaft has no keyway.
The shaft is 3/4 with a thread of about 25mm at the end of the crankshaft.
I was told that the clutch could be attached to the shaft without the keyway provided I make a 2 divids in the shaft then apply locktite to grub screws then screw into the clutch. Is this true.

1. Is this a good Idea

2. Any Suggestions

My GX240 was like that when I got it, (old trash pump motor), I removed the crankshaft and took it to a machist and had them cut a keyway in it, cut the threaded portion off, and drill and tap for a retainer bolt. ;)

The screws in the clutch are to keep it from moving back and forth on the crankshaft they wouldn't hold up the the torque put on them and your clutch would end up spinning on the shaft you need the keyway for it to work properly if you have access to a cutoff wheel you could probably cut it yourself, it doesn't have to be perfect the tighter the fit the better though, you could remove most of the material with the cutoff wheel, and finish it with a file.

How much did that cost?

My buddy just scored a GX240 off a concession kart. Has a clutch/reduction gearbox. Keep the gearbox? What carb should he run? Any other hop-up ideas?
