Hey all, I have another prob with my kart. I lubed up the clutch a lot and now, when I turn the engine on the wheels don't spin but the engine does and it seems as tho the clutch just won't engage! What should I do? Did I permanently ruin the clutch by lubing it so much?

Did you put lube on the actual pads? Or on the bushing? I don't think you're supposed to put lube on the pads.

Take it apart and clean off all the lube off the shoes and then go over it with some steel wool. Then just put a little grease on the BUSHING.

There's a REALLLY HORRIBLE drawing under the thread "Did I fry my brand new clutch?". The guy who drew it must of ate a lot of paste when he was a kid.....

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that was you Mr. Burger..... :roflol:

yeah, I checked out the sketch but I don't understand, should I just pry it open with a hammer (i.e. just open it by any means necessary)? Wouldn't that cause damage to it? is there no actual method of opening it? sry I'm pretty noob when it comes down to clutches...

There's a way to open it up, but then it's pretty much impossible to get it back together.

Usually they're held together by a big c-clip. It should be on the end of the shaft opening, closest to the sprocket. Be warned, if you don't have a spring-clip tool (kinda looks like needle-nose pliers with pins on the end) then the job is tough as heck, and sometimes it ruins the clip.

Was about to suggest same thing, but I'm not sure how brake cleaner would affect the pads.

I don't think it would affect the pads, some of that stuff is made to be applied with the whole brake assembly still on the car.
