Depends on a few things. If your rear tires are bigger than 13" Probably need a CVT. Riding offroad- trails/hills? CVT. Kid nursing the throttle a lot? CVT.

Clutch- Smaller wheels, lots of near-to-full throttle, asphalt, racing. Better quality ($$$) clutches can take more slippage and abuse than the off-the-shelf stuff. Really depends on what you have, and what you're planning on doing with it.

Looks like it will be a great kart. Are your double band breaks missing too? I can't get pics of them if you ever replace them.

I didn't know it took double band brakes, but it makes since why that bar is in the back. I was thinking about doing hydraulic brakes on it. Do you have pics of how your brakes are setup.

torque cpnveter ?

so am definitely going with a torque converter on the kart, i did some reading and everyone says 30series up to 8hp and 40series for 8hp to 13hp. or something like that. so i went to the comet website and it says 30series up to 15hp and for the 40series up to 25hp. so i was thinking about buying the 30series. am actually bidding on one in ebay. but is the one that comes with the plate that has a jack shaft built into it. but those are called TAV2 Torq-A-Verter that after reading on that one it is a 30series 1" but it only works up to 8hp. do really make any sense if the other 30series will handle 15hp why wont the TAV2. So my question now is should i use a torque converter with the jack shaft plate that bolts up to the engine. or the regular jack shaft better. the one that bolts up to the go kart frame. am just worry about this one since i dont have much space in the rear. anyone have any recommendations. here is a pic of the rear of the kart. thank you.

A Comet 30 series is only rated up to 8 HP, but could handle about 10HP at a pinch. You will be burning belts a lot faster though

If you read that it handles 15HP, then you are being lied to. They just want to get a sale and be ****ed the person that buys it. I see you have a 11HP engine. You are going to have to bite the bullet and buy a 40 series. Dont buy the 30 series, it will give you too many headaches.

If they are lying about they need to do fix, because I got this information directly from the comet site. But am going to buy the 40 series for sure. I got out bid on the 30 series so it worked out good. Thank you

Even if you get a tav you will still most likely need a jack shaft depending on where you place the axle sprocket. You already have the spot for the jack shaft on the frame so you might as well try to mimmick my karts setup with a 40 series.
