This is my first build and I'm not sure which would be best for me to use. It will be a gx390 11in tall tires and I will mostly be on pavement possibly drifting a few corners if it's possible with the setup. It will be a kenbar streaker frame and this project is going to take a longtime to compleate so money is not really a issue. Also I am going to beef up the motor the most I can cams, valves etc. all help is welcome

You won't have to hop up the 390 for use on a streaker..... It's already got the power. You just got to put it to good use..... If money isn't a problem, get the 40 series tc..... You will be extremely happy that you did.....

I agree w/ Jim... The GX390 is the sized HP that the clones are attaining to get (only w/ a 1" shaft... and alot quieter!). I too recommend the TC, for a whole list of reasons.

Like Jim said, get the 40 series torque converter and gear it high for 11" wheels, I have a GX390 and 40 series TC and I've got it geared at 6:1 with a 9 tooth jackshaft and 54 tooth axle sprockets which equates to about 45-50mph on 22" spuddy tires with lightning fast acceleration! Do it right and you will be very happy with the results! Also with 13hp, kicking it sideways is easy!

I could drift sideways on concrete by giving it gas and yanking the steering wheel on a 2 seater dingo with gx390/40 series torque converter 22" tires. Had to be going pretty quick, but you can pull it off.

I have a streaker kart. They look perfect with 18" tires. Not sure if there are different "streaker" karts. If you check your axle sprocket it should have what 60 teeth? If so, it would be worth it to get some nice knobby 18-22" tires.

Yeah, but with his 11" tires and geared for like 4:1, he shouldnt have a problem.....

I'm getting a new axle and axle sprocket and bearings and everything else. I had to cut the old axle in half and cut the bearing retainer bolts to remove the axle. All the set screws and jetways were rusted and stripped
