Clutch issue?

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum as well as new to the go kart world in general. I've always wanted one and I love building things so I decided to build a go kart in order to save some money. I've got the go kart all finished up now (I'm unable to put any pictures up at this time) but now I just have one issue. I have a 212cc HF engine and a cheap clutch I bought off BMIkarts. I have a 10T clutch (using #41 chain) and a 52T sprocket. I'm sure you already can see the gear ratio is off. See when building it I figured the bigger the sprocket the better acceleration but worse top speed and that was the only trade off. I'm now learning the clutch doesn't work so well with it. I'm not willing to go with a bigger sprocket because as it is, the sprocket is only a couple inches from the ground and the chain is even closer. Oh and I have 13" rear wheels. The kart has a hard enough time getting started on pavement, almost full throttle, and only if the wheels are pointed straight. I had some issues with the brakes and that was causing some resistance to the axle so maybe after I fix that it will be a little better but my question now is what can I do to fix this other than getting a new sprocket? I looked into torque converters a little bit but I really don't want to spend $170 on one (that was the cheapest I could find). I thought about maybe a smaller clutch but I couldn't find one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You can put a jackshaft in. Consists of two bearings, jackshaft (3/4" or 5/8" keyed bar) two sprockets and extra chain.

Can I recommend having your 10t clutch going to a 13-15t input, to a 10t output and your 52t rear sprocket. This gives you approximately 18-22mph, and achieves the same affect as a 65-78t sprocket would.

definatly make sure your brake is not dragging at all. Are you sure your getting full throttle and the choke isnt on? It should still get up and go pretty well with 13" tires and that ratio on pavement. unless your 300lbs

Maybe I exaggerated a little on how sluggish it is. It does go pretty well on pavement but on grass it's pretty slow to start up but gets going fast once it takes off. I would like it to take off a little faster though and I understand I need a bigger sprocket for that but then I'd be hitting the ground on any bump.
So a jack shaft is something new to me. I googled it a little bit and it looks like it kind of acts as a second crankshaft to transfer gear ratios?

Yeah pretty much there on the jackshaft. It is an aid to gear lower and a few other things.

You could call it a 'slave shaft'
There is lots of info on the forum about jackshafts. Just search above.

I got one other question. im sure some cluthes are nicer than others considering some are $25 and some are hundreds. Assuming im ok with the take off speed and top speed but my clutch burns out, would a nicer clutch be a solution? Like do they still burn out? Any reccomendations on which clutch will get me the most bang for my buck so to speak?
