Ok, was putting on a new sprocket, and i decided to take off the clutch to oil the bearing... It's a maxtorque or something max, can't see it to well

ANYWAY

I took it off the engine, put it nice nice on the seat, and what happens, my son sits on the seat, and the clutch goes all over the place LOL

Well, i got the pads on the springs but now no matter how i put it back on, i cant get it to spin the chain, just makes grinding noises...

Something is backwards, upside down, i have no clue

I need pics

right now the pieces are the one that goes on the shaft, has little metal cutouts on it, and it can go on eiither way, than the springs and pads, than another metal piece with the holes, and then the piece with the sprocket on it..

No matter which way i put it together its not working... HELP

Is it an SS clutch? Here is the diagram.

Ur suppose to just put some light weight oil behind the C clip. U dont need to take anything off. Theres a bushing in there that will soak up the oil. Getting the clutch warm before doing it is better as it just draws in the oil.

Ok all is well in the clutch world EXCEPT one thing LOL

# 12 in the diagram, the set screw holes stripped out, and so now it spins on the crank.
I couldnt find JUST that part anywhere, so here is my thought...

Drill 2 new holes, opposite the existing, tap and rethread and put in new set screws... Will that work?

You know what, im just gonna drill a 1/4 in hole, straight through the crank, stick a bolt and nylock washer and be done with it, that should hold it nice nice

thats very odd that the clutch has no keyway, can you get a picture of your engine and clutch? i dont know how the hell a setscrew could hold a clutch from spinning on the shaft. And have fun drilling a hole in a hardened steel crankshaft, let alone a straight and accurate one.

Dont have it in front of me, shaft looks just like the axle shaft, minus the keyway and the end is threaded

#12 in the diagram fits over the shaft, has 2 holes in it that you would put the screws in, than #11 goes over it

Clutch has no keyways, and it is the EXACT same one as in the diagram...

So i think drill and tap an extra hole and add a screw would be my easiest option?

It's a honda clone engine 5.5 HP

SUCCESS so far anyway LOL
I drilled and tapped 2 holes in #12 and put 1/4" bolts into them, holding on the shaft nice and tight...

Now to take it for a ride, i think i MAY need to push the engine up a bit to tighten the chain

Thanks All

It's not pretty LMAO
All i know is i paid 150.00 for it, says it was PERFECT Condition LMFAO
so far, new sprocket, sprocket hub, and new tube in tire, not bad for the price i paid...
Now i just need brakes....
Was riding with my 4yo coming down my hill, bout 15mph, then the pedal went to the floor and i had to power slide it to stop, holding her tight for dear life.

Any temp fix i could use to at least ride a little today
