I have got a question on what clutch or preferred which CVT should I run on this motor. I cant find a comet kit that handles the HP of this engine. I know there is the clutch and driver kits minus the belts and housing, but it gets really expensive going that method. Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I am a big dude with a heavy chassis in mind, so I want to stay away from burning up clutch after clutch.

With the 13hp motor, theres pretty much only one way u should go. Comet 40 series would my choice. Get one out of a junked gokart or suck it up and dish out the 350 or so brand new. Its definetly worth every penny

It is a 2wd mini rock buggy based off of a moon buggy chassis design with 22" atv tires all around. I just wanted to know if I had to shell out $700 for the power plant and clutch.
Thanks for the help, buildup will come in July. Will a modified 6.5 clone have enough power with CVT to move my fat butt? Might go that route to save money

Chassis based off of this

I would use a sled engine it something like that, you need some power and they are a lot cheaper. You are going to have a fair amount of overall weight there.

It will be weighty, but a sled motor is up on par with a mini sandrail type build. This thing is meant for dirt trails in the woods. I want the low end more than the high end of a sled motor. Thats why the 13hp is looking good, it is very torquey. Plus it is the same size as most yerf dogs, just different design for a roll cage

You can gear a sled motor low and there are some BIG driven pulleys for em. Most liquid cooled sled motors make more power than a 13hp clone, idling.

Well, how much do you think it will cost to setup a sled drivetrain. As in like compared to bought engine.

Gear it down, doing this will make it into a rear bull. Use 2 jackshafts, I go this route often.
You can buy a 340 440 or 503 with the clutches in good shape for under $500.00.
