Setup on my Gx200 Clone
Billet Rod
ARC Billet Flywheel (Coming in a week)
AFK Reground Cam, the $50 one I think (coming ina week)
Flat Top Piston
14cc Head (stock porting)
18 lbs valve springs
Mikuni 22 mm carb with gravity feed

I don't have a setup for a belt drive, I do alot of just playing not racing. (Donuts, TRYING to climb hills, etc etc) My clutch now (max torque) seems to slip and what gearing do you suggest? It is geared about 50 MPH right now.

Climbing hills and 50 mph gearing don't mix well at all, (unless you're going 50 when you start climbing, :D ) I'd say you need to choose the primary usage of your kart and optimize it for that ORRR ..... get a 2 stroke bike motor and put on it, then you can have the best of both worlds, ;)

Before we can suggest a sprocket and clutch gear ratio we need to know the diamitor (or circumference) of your rear tires.

Also, how much top speed are you willing to give up to give up for better acceleration? (should we calculate your ratio for a 20, 30 or meyby a 40-mph top speed?)

We'd also need to know how many teeth are on your clutch gear.

And finally, how many RPM's is your engine supposed to turn after all your mods are completed?

width of tire: 3.5
Height: 11.5

Mods/RPM, I would guess 6500 RPM

I would like about 40 MPH

I want a new clutch with a new gear and what one do you recommend?

A 12/72 would be 37mph.
A 12/66 calculates to 40mph on the dot.
A 13/72 also figures out to 40mph but a 72 is a prety tall axle sprocket for 11.5 tires. I run a 73 with 11.5" tires but use a sprocket saver to help protect the sprocket/chain from damage as they contact the ground over bumps and stuff.

Looks like a 12/60 figures out to 44mph.

Here's a link to the gearing calculator if you wanna figure any other combonations: http://www.diygokarts.com/speed-calculator.html

ander, what driver are you running

I was thinking of going to a 10/60 cause ground clearance.. wondering how it will do VS a 12/60 BOTTOM END WISE

Hey, suburban, I'm running a 13/73 at the little track and a 18/60 at the other 1/5-mile oval track here.

Looks like if you were running 11" tires at 5000rpm, swapping to a 10/60 would drop your top speed down a full 5-mph. I'd expect a noticeably better bottom end over your 12/60 setup.

5800 rpms here
leaning heavily towards it.. 10/60 to tackle those corners 39mph top speed now..
i can handle 5mph DROP if it pulls better down low.
