I was looking to get into getting a clone to put on my pocket bike I have what looks like an x2.

i heard that these engines are a threat ungovernd so if I install a billet flywheel and con rod should I'm guessing I should get 18lb valve springs right? and will the flywheel key strip at high rpms?

In fact, I think we have a thread titled "Exploding Flywheel Myth". Also search under "governor" and other related search terms. The topic rears it's ugly head every couple months around here. I'm starting to think it needs it's own subcategory!

Anyway, the short answer is- If you upgrade the springs, upgrade the rod. If you do not wish to upgrade the rod, you're best to keep the springs stock. You can upgrade the flywheel without it affecting anything else. The flywheel key will only shear if a)The flywheel nut was not torqued to spec, or, b)The engine is mechanically stopped abruptly, such as a lawnmower blade striking a pipe.

i think the only way you want billet is because either you are revving insane rpm, or you want better performance and the ability to change rpm quicker?

Cool thanks bro

The reason I want the upgrades is because this will be going on my pocket bike so high rpms is what I'm looking for with abit more power.

Considering size and weight as well as desired RPM, why not go with either a 2-stroke, and/or a pitbike engine? The 6.5 is going to be rather clunky on that little pocket rocket.

two strokes are a pain in the arse if you dont know anything about them and I just know how they work and Im kinda new to small engines in general, a pit bike engine is expensive and quality sucks since most are chinese made. on top of that the wiring and fabricating brackets for the shift pedal and routing a clutch lever along with making sure that nothing binds isn't worth the effort. just my 2 cents

thats why I want a clone, the pocket pike with its small 49cc has some pull a 200cc 4 stroke should haul *** and its pretty much a simple build all around...

and blue theres a cateye with a gx200 in it on there

I will concede to pretty much everything you said, except the part about the Chinese quality... What do you think you're going to get with a CLONE?

chinese parts which I can easily and cheaply swap out with higher quality american aftermarket parts, i've thought it through bud finding replacement parts for a clone seems alot easier and cheaper then finding parts and repairing a chinese honda ohc knock off :cheers2:

Sure enough- just thought I'd point it out. You may have to alter the frame to fit the bulk of that engine, though. Are you equipped to do fab work (aside from the obvious motor mounts mods, etc)?

yea I've built roll cages, ladders out of conduit and such am a decent welder and an angle grinder is like my third arm in shop. I might brace the frame in some areas maybe re-do the mounting plate on it since Im switching from a 49cc to a 212cc but that should be pretty much it.

Any thing else i should be concerned about?

How so?...4 cycle power plants are far more complex (and heavier) with double the moving parts.
never ever trust a clone flywheel and if its anykind of bike your nutts are right above it spinning at 7000plus
How so? Show me the money.
Probably closer to 10,000 rpm.

I said there a pain in the *** if your clueless about them which I pretty much am. Four cycles are easier for me atleast since I know a good amount about them

I made a thread a while back to post evidence about the exploding flywheel a few months back. It had no evidence in cos nobody could find any.

spend 30 minutes on google then.
I did I now know how they work and such but I learn more by hands on. So I guess ill be using the 49cc currently on it to learn on.

I rather play it safe and keep my lower half intacted but I have a question with replacing the con rod should I put out for an after market piston or will the stock one handle high rpms?
