i got the governor gear off, put everything back together, and now it won't start. the cam dots are line up, and it actually did start for a second after spraying carb cleaner into the intake. what gives?
try opening the throttle a little while starting. Just like 1/4 open. I think, if im not mistaken, the gov spring holds the throttle open before the engine starts
i pulled the air filter, ect. off to get to the gov. easier. i haven't put anything back on yet. i did press the housing of the butterfly against the carb. the while someone else tried to start it
That has to be bolted snugly on or else you will have a massive air leak (even if you're "holding" it). Engine wont have enough vacuum to suck fuel up into the carb.
Did you touch the valves/rockers at all during the gov removal?
will bolt it back up tomorow. the cam came out when taking off the flywheel, but was put back in at the correct timing spots. valves, and everything up in there was untouched
Do you have a throttle hooked to it? You don't want to run the engine without any load. If there is no spring return for the throttle. You have potential to get stuck on WOT. Which could cause damage.

yeah. seeing as how i have two of these motors. the one i just pulled, i would like to "fully build" and see what it can do. i also picked up another kart, this one with a live axle, for 50bucks that it may go on. my current running setup up has the brake flapper and doesn't really stop.
