Clone confusion

I am planning on buying a engine soon and at first was going to get one from Harbor Freight but was persuaded to go the Clone route. I was just on the ARC Racing site (and a few others) and noticed that some engines make 6.5 hp and others 11. Does anyone know if they have different model numbers? Has anyone on this board bought their engines from ARC Racing? Are there any other site I can look at for prices?

HF motors are the clones engines.

theres a shop that takes them engines and works them over to make more power.
they are called stock boxes or sumthing like that
but yes there are models a tad bigger.

There are "clones" in varying displacements/hp ratings, just like the name-brand original engine. A 6.5hp clone is modelled after the 6.5hp Honda GX200. The 11hp cone is modelled after the Honda GX340. There are other models too. In addition, there are aftermarket companies (mentioned above by Rabies) that take these engines and perform various performance enhancements, like Box Stock Projects. Please note that these engines do achieve higher horsepower, but still tend to be sold as 6.5's or GX200 clones- not by power specs.

The HF motors are pretty awesome. They just had their sidewalk sale and I picked up 4 of them for $40 each. If they had more I would have gotten more.

Threw one in my cart while I rebuild another motor and it SMOKED the tires.

How the heck did you get a motor from HF for $40!!!!! I saw the Predators on there site, I would like to know if they are good too.

after looking around....i found a mint condition 79 honda CB750
il be using that motor
