Hey all, I picked up a go kart today from a friend for a few hundred bucks and he said that this kart when he got it had NASCAR stickers all over it in the form of Citco and others he could not remember and he said that it was a "promotional go kart" and the something about "Kile Petty" I am very curious about this and the all around history of a kart like this. Any help is welcome. Here are some pics.

And the kart itself in the back of the van for now.

Ask around...or put it on Ebay with a very high reserve minimum.
Someone on this site may know it's value, but is highly unlikely. There is too much inexperienced youth here.
IF it turns out that it has value and you do change it....it will be worthless.
I have seen many "kids" get a hold of some karting history...only to destroy it in a few minutes in the effort to get something going.
2 months later they are back on their X-Box or PlayStation and are completely oblivious as to what they had.
Very recently I saw a twin West-Bend BlitzKart on Ebay for $11,000.
Was sold in a couple hours.
I am not suggesting that your kart has that kind of value...but is definitely worth more than what you paid for it.

I would say the kart is newer than 40 years old, if it were indeed marked with Kyle Petty's Citgo numbers and decals that would put it somewhere later than 1987.

These carts are everywhere around here. I dont think they are rare or incredibly valuable. Not a bad cart, just not some crazy collector item.

and just how the hell do you expect them to learn without comming onto sites and asking questions, sure not everyone on here is as experienced as you, i just wish more people my age (15) had an interest in the things i do instead of wasting away on playstations and the like for all the days there off school. sure the same questions been repeated over and over again and it gets annoying but how are they meant to learn. I understand what your saying about destroying things that may have value by thinking they can make it go faster and i totally agree with you.

That body kinda looks like an 80's era T-bird that Kyle drove back then. If the whole kart was in mint condition with all the original stickers and maybe signed by a famous driver, It might be worth $500 or so to a Nascar memorabilia collector. As it is, I've seen several very similar bodied karts for sale with $200 or so asking prices around here.

Thank You! I mean where the hell do you think a month of Call of Duty will get you in life? I totally agree with you, kids and teens should be outside doing something instead of sitting inside on the PS3 all day. It pisses me off when I call someone to hang and there like wait a sec i just gotta finish this game. :furious2:

Back on topic. Are you planning on painting or putting some decals on the body?
