I'm sorry to jump right in and ask for help but I think I screwed up... I have 2 daughters one is 7 and the other is 4, I decided to get them each a go cart(buggie) for Christmas. For the 7 year old I got a gas 2 seater with a 90cc engine and for my 4 year old I went with a youth electric.....I bought them both off of the internet and when the electric came in I was floored disappointed, it has a small 24v 350 watt motor with a gear box that gets 400rpm. It seems very slow but may be plenty for a 4 year old that weighs 38 lbs but I dont think I want to give it to her.. I charged it over night and when I tried it it seemed wayyyy low on power and I could walk faster than it would go. The batteries that came with it are 10AH and seem to be not very good quality, but I will try to parrallel 2 trolling motor batteries this evening to see if it is indeed the batteries giving me the worries (if so then bam easy fix)..
I keep looking at some upgrade options and I see some high power scooter motors 750 watt to 1000watt. None have a gear box on them like the cart I have now has.. If I put a upgraded motor on it without a gearbox will the motor have the torque I need? And can I use the existing controller for an upgraded motor in the same voltage? Should I just get rid of it and get her a gas also or can we make a reasonable project out of it and keep the electric? The frame and everything else seems to be pretty good....
