I agree, Makita are great tools, but very overpriced. I had a Makita grinder a few years back which died. Took it to a repairer who said "It'd be cheaper to buy a new one".

We have a company here in oz called Ozito that make affordable power tools. Last week I bought a new grinder for $35; a comparable Makita started at $150.

Go Makita they are great
They never die

We have a chop saw coming 20 years old
Still runs good

Dad dropped the cordless drill in the dam
So we fished it out washed the mud out and left it to dry
Still runs 5 years later

U can buy cheap power tools but they don't last
I got a Ozito jig saw
I burnt it out in 3 days cutting wood planks

Dewalt are also good, comparible to makita. We have a little 4" makita grinder. It died, so I left it on the bench for a while. 6 months later it worked again! WTF!

Brushes. Same thing as when a car starter doesn't work and you get it working by whacking it with a hammer.

Might also want to consider a band saw over a chopsaw.less noise, cleaner cuts, less mess and no sparks flying everywhere

yes matika all the way... got corded and cordless drills. A friend has a matika chop saw and 3 grinders. Their used every day of the week they have been running for about 3 years when it stops it gets rewired and then its like new again. I have a b&d grinder which is good but not great.
