What kind of motor does that thing have?

Probably about the same as mine, 110cc with cent clutch. I saw a mini quad the other day, half the size of mine but, the same engine...

DaiSan, can we see some close-ups of it?

It's a Tao Tao 125D. It's got the Honda 3 gear bottom end, with first and second pulled out to make reverse, so you get reverse and third. They give you a 2.63:1 ratio from the factory, I got down to about a 3.5:1 before it was rideable in my yard. Even geared down that low I got it up to 26mph with the throttle stop screwed in halfway. It is very unstable and dangerous at that speed, I can't imagine why on earth they decided to gear it for 37mph. I'll try to get a few pictures today, and maybe video with a real camera instead of my cellphone.

Done with the first round of "mods" I know most of it isn't mods, but it is a deviation from stock, which some people who buy one of these might find useful, as all of them together turn this from a parking lot queen to an actual off road machine.

1) Rejet from 85 to 95 main jet
2) Change front sprocket from 14T to 12T
3) Change rear sprocket from 37T to 42T
4) Add fuel shutoff (Why wasn't there one there already???)
5) Switch the plug to NGK
6) Switch air filter to Unifilter

All of these are very simple, and total cost was around $100. So on with the video, when I bought this, it would barely take off with my 50# kid with a slight incline. The throttle is limited to 1/3 for the 6 year old.

Come to find out, the "Special Oil" that the Scooter shop uses for their crankcase oil is actually 2 cycle oil. After I put some nice Synthetic motor oil in it, the clunking and clanging seems to have mysteriously disappeared. About 1/3 the price of their "Special Oil" as well.

It is the price that is "special", not the oil. LOL
