so i got yet another 212cc from the local toy store and its doing something I've never seen them do. when i start it at full choke, let it run for about 30sec then put it to full choke, it'll cut out at full throttle. when i put it at 40%-60% choke it'll run mint. i've tweaked the throttle and adjust the jet needle but with the same settings on the other 212s it'll run at normal setting.

Check the plug and see what it says the engine is doing.... running rich or lean?

Boggin/cutting out at high RPMs is a sign of a lean mixture (normally). If it's running lean... my guess is you have too much air in the mixture. It could be a leaking gasket/seal... or it may be the fuel/air mixture nut/bolt is not tuned properly. Could also be old/diluted gas... Just a couple things to check out.

yeah t-man had that same issue, and one of those little nuts that hold the carb and airbox to the engine had worked its way loose.

So now that we know it is lean, you just gotta do the hard part - figure out WHY :mad2:

... or just return it and get a new one because these things hsould run great right outta the box.

welp.. took the carb off and the gasket was a rush job apparently. 1/2 of it was sticking outside the flange and the other wasn't even existent. and the spark plug was really fouled so i'm gonna take it chinese standards took effect and passed a $#!t motor. maybe i'll go with the honda or subaru motor afterall.

Id just exchange it. There are always going to be some bad apples. I wouldnt give up on the predator yet. (says the person with all the honda engines.... errr... in my defense, i have one predator engine?)

Ive personally had/have 4 predator engines HF212 and a gx200... none of the predators had any issues and the gx200... well, that thing lived thru a gyroscopic 'incident' of unbelievable proportions!!!

"IF" I had the funds, Id purchase a gx200 everytime... but seeing as that the HF212 actually 'does the job' and only 1/3 the cost of a Honda... plus is highly modifiable... Id recommend a HF212 anyday to ANYONE... IMGHO... by far the best bang for the buck!

I had what seems to be a similar problem. The problem ended up being.....When the carburetor was machined and assembled at the factory, the hole that the emulsion tube fits into inside the carburetor venturi was not big enough. So the emulsion tube was not poking up into the airstream in the carb, and that made the jet cover the fuel inlet holes inside the fuel bowl. I redrilled the hole dropped the emulsion tube back into place (and now I could see it poke up into the venturi) reassembled the carb, fired it up and it ran perfectly after that. Hope you find the problem.
