Hey I am wondering what are some cheap modifications i can do to my 6.5hp motor.

Right now i have remove the governor and that's about it..

I am in the process of welding together a pipe for it. But other then that i am wondering what should i do next?

I also know air filters are cheap, and so are valve springs.

get 18lb value springs. re jet the carb with a #90 jet
also could get a flat top piston but i dont know if the stock rod will handly the increased compression.

this is amost a must have when build a motor

the stock rings will fit this

Their is not a real cheap way to get a good motor.

It is one of the "you pay for what you get" kinda things.

I would recommend a billet rod. They are about 60 dollars.

You could pull the valves and port the runners and intake.

The valve springs keep the valves seated at high rpm.

The stock springs tend not to be stought enough to hold the valves down causing you to lose a lot of your top end power.

sorry for 2 post i didn't know i did it until i hit to post button.

Aren't the clones OHV?

So if the valves float on them, they could hit the piston bending a valve, punching a hole in the piston or a lot worse.

A good carby off a small motorbike will boost your power, if your going to keep the standard one then you'll probably have to rejet it.

You could try Russ2251s head gasket removal technique.

There's also porting.

Spending money on things like billet conrods and flywheels for these engines is pretty pointless, a motorbike engine costs about the same and will have more power than the clone ever will(as well as a gearbox and a real clutch).

Thanks

Hayden

yeah but there isnt much fun in just buying motor and throwing it on, its alot of fun building one

Yeah they have ohv. I might get the valve springs, and a billet rod sense I have removed the governor. Then i will rejet the carb to a bigger jet. And so on.. But yeah its going to cost $$$ I forgot i am working with a 4 stroke..

I am used to working with 2 strokes and performance parts are alot cheaper :)

Yepp you are 100% correct! I like to build and experiment, so when people ask what have i done to the motor i can tell them and brag :D

AFAIK the clone is a non-interference engine, so no amount of valve float would make the valves hit the piston, or each other, unless you change the camshaft out for one with higher lift

I know and I can completely understand that, I own and modify old French cars. I get more of a kick out of doing the actual modifications than I do driving it afterwards.

With the motorbike engine though, you could get 4 times the horse power and a real clutch and gearbox for the same money. And then you can modify that engine. That's when it's fun.

Thanks

Hayden

Hence why you own said cars in the first place.

OP: Past a header and an air cleaner it really isn't worth modifying a engine like that, cheaper to buy power in this case.
