Just curious what steps, or processes others go through when designing a frame/ chassis for their karts.

I'm starting work on a design, which may or may not work to be something that wouldn't only work for a kart, but someday I might be able to scale up to be a full size track car. Sort of an ExoSkeleton Kart, similar to an Aerial Atom.

Understanding that a kart and a car will need different levels of structural support, I am starting with a design I found for someones DIY ExoSkeletal Track car and am scaling it down a bit.

My initial version; slated V1 will be a Balsa wood model in 1/12 scale. Then after I have gotten the concept hammered out, I will modify the 1/12 (i.e. making framing less conplicated) and scale it up to cart size and making it out of proper material for V2.

Hopefully, by doing a design that ultimately could support a full size powertrain, I can go back and remove (or add) support structures to make the initail Kart build go smoother. That way, if I do ever get to the full sized version (not bloody likely), the two designs will at least resemble each other. :auto:
