changing axle on silver streak

Does anybody know how to change an axle on the fox silver streak. Do you actually have to cut the bearing holder off the frame and re assemble with new parts and then weld new one on. Got it on craigslist for my sons b day. Day 2 of riding the wheel fell off with the axle broke off in it. Bummer thanks for your help
