For many years now, I have had a strong opinion that Ryobi should get into the go-karting business--with their modular 31cc 2-stroke motor and numerous blower, edger, tiller, hedge-trimmer, etc attachments. Would it really be that difficult to offer a go-kart attachment using the same bracket mount?

I get the high-rpm, low-torque issue but surely gearing could overcome that and what it may lack in comparable driveability, it would make up for that in how easy it would be to replace the motor, upgrade components, etc.

I have experience in this area. The jonsered 2145 is rather a small saw engine to use. It is only 45cc and about 2hp @ 11500 rpm. also it doesn't have a lot of torque. A better choice would be a husquvarna 3120 (120cc) or even better try to find a Stihl 090 they are 123cc and make 9hp
at 7000-7500 rpm and have a governor and make lots of torque! also the big stihl was in production for decades and many thousands were sold all over the world so it shouldn't be too hard to find one. Or you might even luck out and find a clinton D35 chainsaw and that engine is an awesome go kart engine! Good luck and have fun with your project.
