Chainsaw engine powerful enough to carry dude over bicycle?

Might have a 60cc 2stroke engine McCullogh chainsaw for less than $75. However, mister Mountain Bike wont allow me to mount the engine "in" the frame, so will need to put over the rear wheel. I will also officially need rear brakes by going with such a setup... Ive only got front ones on that bike ^^

Dyou think cops would stop me if I ride such a thing right in the middle of a city? Ill be going uphill and downhills alot, and Im tired of either walking or downshifting to first gear to be able to climb them. A 60cc engine might be slighly overkill tho, and it will make ALOT of noise.

Ill have to send an e-mail to authorities to ask them if it would be legal to put a small gas engine on a bicycle...

Anyway, is there a simple way cost-wise to put a chainsaw on a bicycle? Keep in mind Ill have to make my own muffler to dampen that hell of a noise, cause Im gonna wake up some dudes at midnight by driving that.

Being over 50cc it would certainly be considered a motorcycle.

Depends on where you live, i know here, you can have a scooter/bike with 50cc or less and all you need is a helmet and have to be 15 And you can ride on sidewalks,etc. And yeah, that engine will haul you around good, my 20cc weedwhacker engine pushed me around at 10-15mph. And thats with the friction drive slipping.

A motorized bicycle can be legal if it is UNDER 49cc, and there are several places where you can purchase engine kits for your bikes. Anything over 49cc is considered a motorcycle, and subject to insurance and licensing.

I used to ride my 50cc scooter on the side walk unregistered they don't really care as long as you don't piss anyone off.

There are a lot of the motorized bicycles running around Tucson. Apparently (and this came from a police officer) the people who have too many DUI's (Driving Under the Influence) and have had their licenses taken away have been purchasing these things. Since they are still technically a bicycle and are unregistered, plus under the 50cc limit, the police can't do anything about them, although there is talk about getting them registered as mopeds.

Just tell any cop that it's a 50cc, they can't tell the difference. I'm running 196cc on mine, no decals, and I say it's a 49cc.

Also be careful, some cops don't know the laws and think that ANY motored bike is illegal, so know the laws in your area before riding. I wouldn't sweat a 60cc, that's hardly bigger than a 50cc, and they look the same anyway.

I'm actually trying to find if its legal myself, i was given a free 50cc mcculloch, its an old 70s beast but it runs great, anyways im doing a chain drive on mine, i'll need 2 jackshafts and a ratio of atleast 16:1 in order to have enough power. for the jackshafts im going to cut off the crank bearings and housing from another bike and just use that as a jackshaft, im working on that today, ill let you know how it works.

mccolloch is no good, if you fit it you may regret it. they tend to just pack up. if you can get hold of a stihl 440 or bigger, power will be no issue

i had an 80cc bicycle engine kit, i was running a 29rear tooth and got 45 out of it. needed a centrifugal clutch but it was good fun and the uk cops didnt even notice me
