Chain to loose

ok my chain was to loose and i removed a whole link and then it was to short and i added a offset half link, and its to big again, and when i take off it makes an awful grinding sound but still drives, but it is from axle to jackshaft and i cant have the chain to tight because it burns up the belt, Please help !!!!

already found the problem its the bearings in the jackshaft, there shot, Just cant get the belt pulley off of the jack shaft to remove it to replace the bearings i need help ? is it just a key and keyway holding it on ?

It may have a bit of rust built up between the two. Spray it with WD40 or, better still, penetrating oil a few times over the next 24 hours & try it again tomorrow

When you refit it, a smear of grease will prevent this from occuring next time
