Hi,

I am mocking up the motor plate and the sprocket alignment and was wondering how much initial slack that there should be in the chain. I assume that the chain will stretch and have slotted the mounting plate so I can move the motor away from the sprocket to tighten up anu future slack.

Thanks

Usually you want about half (or the whole) the thickness of the chain in deflection at the mid point between the two sprockets.

Thanks (I hope that makes sense)

The chain is approx 3/8" thick so the deflection should be approx 3/16"?

Yep, anything up to about half inch should be fine. I've seen a lot more than that with out issues though, on my old dirt bike the chain adjuster broke, it had a good 2 inches of deflection before the chain came off and I got off my lazy arse and fixed it. :D

Thanks
