I have not had any time or rather its been too hot outside... so I finally got around to mounting the new motor and put on the clutch. Went out and bought some washers so that the wheel sprocket now lines up with the clutch sprocket. I took an old fan belt and put it around the sprocket and clutch and measured it. Looks like its about 30 inches. Im assuming the #41 is the chains size i need so with the above info off the wheel sprocket would this chain work ?

As long as the length you need is not longer than 3' then you are fine.
Just use the masterlink to join the chain.
Also I would suggest getting the #40 chain, because it will fit on your sprockets and be stronger.

Like Chez said, 40 is stronger than 41, by ~300lbs of tensile strength IIRC. It is pretty easy to shorten, but you will need a vise and small punch to remove the pins. Or a chain breaker. I've heard these make it very easy, although, once I broke a few chains with a punch, it wasn't tough to repeat.

I just ordered some #40 sprockets, chain, and master links from here.

http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=1-1163-40&catname=

They are about the same price and you get 10 foot. The master links are only like 50 cents or you can get stainless steel for about 75 cents.

They even have offset links for shortening like a half a link...

They ship fast too. It only took a few days for mine to get here. I got all my jackshaft sprockets, drive spockets, and alot other stuff cheaper than everyone else had them.

#40 is about a 1/16" wider than #41 but its almost double the strength. #40 being a little wider it looks like it will fit #40 and #41 teeth gears / sprockets.

I ordered my clutch, chain, and all my sprockets #40. The clutch I orderd said 40/41 though..

WAIT! I think your clutch is #35. The teeth just don't look big enough. Measure from one peak to the next and tell us what you find.
